ICDC Surrey was founded at St Peters Hospital, Surrey on 10th October, 2006 by a dedicated group of medical staff & ICD [Internal Cardiac Defibrillator] patients who saw the need to establish a Patient Support Group to assist members & their families to live a normal life after their implant operation. We were originally called ICDC [Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator Club] West Surrey, but are now known as ICDC Surrey.

We received a “start-up” grant from the British Heart Foundation & have continued to support ourselves through voluntary donations received from our members, social functions & various awards/funding which have been awarded to us for the quality of assistance that we have provided to  patients & their families.

Our main achievements have been to issue relevant information to members, the most notable being the “Patient Pack” [now in its 2nd edition based upon member’s feedback - You can download a copy here ] This is given to every patient at St Peters Hospital & contains full details of the medical departments & contact telephone numbers at St Peters Hospital, numerous sections of what “to do/not to do” to assist the patient’s standard of living & inform them of the various medical associations that can provide them with additional accurate medical data. We also  organise numerous social/learning functions which allow patients & their families to come together & talk about their various concerns & experiences.

We are now expanding our services with the provision & operation of this ICDC Surrey Website which has been created to help ICD patients regardless of which of the five hospitals within the Surrey area that they are receiving treatment.
